After 40 years, most in Leland are looking forward to a refurbished Harbor and Marina. The facilities will be enhanced, additional boat slips will be added, and the primary portion of the project should be completed by early June of 2009. One of the many events in Leland this weekend as part of the Leland Heritage Celebration is the Van's Garage Classic Car Show (click it for a larger view).

On Saturday, September 18, the Leland Chamber will again facilitate the annual Leland Heritage Celebration. This consists of the Wood Boats on the Wall at the Museum, Fishtown Fest, Vanâs Garage Classic Car Show, a Leland Historic Building art show at the Old Art Building, the Leelanau Conservancy on the Village Green, and more.
Weather permitting, the deck at The Cove will be open and if reservations are sufficient, there will be a historical cruise by Manitou Island Transit.

TONIGHT! Wednesday, August 20th, will be our last Wednesday evening of Leland Summer Music. It begins at 7:00, behind Leelanau Books and Northwestern Bank.The theme is "Reprise" and Geno Miller will take the lead as we bid farewell to a great summer of music. A huge thank you to Johnston Mitchell of the Brenda J Clark Gallery for making this such a great addition to the Leland summer scene.
Thursday morning: Leland Farmers' Market, across from the entrance to The Bluebird. (only 4 more weeks left!)
August 29, 30, 31 Northern Michigan Potters & Sculptures Guild Exhibit at the Old Art Building.
September 20: Leland Heritage Celebration. In addition to events at the Old Art Building, Vanâs Garage, Fishtown, and the Leelanau Historical Museum, The Leelanau Conservancy will be joining us for the first time with a little something at the Village Green.
Photographer Ken Scott has put together a great photo show from the Leland Fireworks, complete with a classic track Pearl of America from Song of the Lakes. It's just great, so check it out!

Tonight! (Wed July 9) - in Harbor Square in Leland (behind Leelanau Books) from 7 - 9 pm, Doug Hansen and band will sing and play music from the just-released CD Songs from the Circle!
Everyone is invited (it's free) and CDs will be available. 100% of proceeds benefit programs at Leelanau Children's Center in Leland & Northport.

Saturday, July 12 - Artist's Marketplace 2008 at the Old Art Building takes place from 10 am - 5 pm and features 70 art booths on the lawn and inside!
