Greg Sobran’s Leland painting, “Remembering the Cottonwood” is featured on this year’s Leland Wine and Food Festival poster, now on sale in several Leland stores (and online right here). The painting spotlights Leland’s grand champion Cottonwood tree in all its glory. The tree, over 109 years old, had to be cut down in 2011.
Born in Marblehead, Massachusettts, Sobran grew up in Michigan and graduated from Eastern Michigan Michigan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Sobran did commercial art on a freelance basis for some 20 years before turning full time to painting.
Sobran and his wife, Wanda, operate Sobran Galleries in Glen Arbor during the summer months. He also has a studio in Ann Arbor. He now spends most of his time painting in Florida, the Rockies, Europe and Michigan.
The 27th Annual Leland and Wine Festival will take place on Saturday, June 9 2012 in the Marina Park next to historic Fishtown. The event will run from noon to 6 p.m. and will spotlight 16 local vineries, 10 local food vendors and one brewery. Greg’s poster will be available at the event.
The Leland Michigan Chamber of Commerce is the sponsor of this annual event. Visit the Leland Wine & Food Festival page for more!
