Artist - Maggie Revel Mielczarek

About Maggie:
Maggie grew up spending her summers in Leland, and has always found it to be an inspirational place to paint. While full time, she's been teaching Elementary students just north of Chicago for nine years, Leland will always be partly home in her heart. She graduated in 2000 from MSU with an Art Education degree, and has always felt that art teachers should be practicing artists. Over the past decade, she has had art showings out of her home, participated in the artists market in Leland, and also shows her work at "At Home" in Suttons Bay. This summer, she organized a special show with friends and family at the Old Art Building on July 2nd and 3rd called the "Second Generation Artists" showing. The Old Art Buiding holds a special spot in her heart, because if it wasn't for MSU's summer art program in the 1960's, her family may not have found Leland. This particular painting of Fishtown is part of a series with a graphic inspiration, a new style for Maggie, but one that she is enjoying very much.
