Fishtown Preservation

Fishtown is a historic district comprised of weathered fishing shanties, smokehouses, overhanging docks, commercial fishing vessels and charter boats along the Leland River, where it feeds into Lake Michigan. Visitors can enjoy the shanty shops and eateries of this working waterfront April-October, though Fishtown itself is open 365 days a year. Many generations have formed a lasting bond with Fishtown, enjoying its authentic and continued connection to Great Lakes commercial fishing and maritime traditions. Stop by the Fishtown Welcome Center spring through fall, and/or visit our website anytime to see how you can help keep Fishtown thriving for future generations!
